At the company’s headquarters in Dresden we develop and manufacture pyroelectric infrared detectors in a large variety and of highest quality. They are used by our customers for high-precision gas analysis as well as for fire and flame detection. Local dedicated subsidiaries support our clients in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

The modular construction system of InfraTec’s pyroelectric detectors consists of approximately 50 standard types and therefore offers optimized solutions for a variety of applications. Detectors with reduced microphonic technology and integrated operational amplifier as well as a new detector family with tuneable filter on MOEMS basis are part of our product range, too.

Aperture (mm) Size of the circular or rectangular aperture through which radiation hits the sensitive elements.
Operating modes Size of the circular or rectangular aperture through which radiation hits the sensitive elements.
JFET/OpAmp Integrated signal condition like integrated junction field effect transistors (JFET) for detectors in voltage mode or integrated operational amplifiers (OpAmp) for detectors in current mode.
Thermal Compensation A pyroelectric detector is sensitive to changes in temperature. Changes in ambient temperature have an influence on the measurement signal and shifts the operating point. This effect reduces a thermal compensation. Therefore, each pyroelectric element gets an additional optically inactive element, which compensates for unwanted currents.
Low Micro Patented micromechanical chip attachment (LowMicro) by InfraTec to reduce the effects of interfering impact sounds.
Detectivity* As a key parameter, the specific detectivity D* characterizes the signal-to-noise ratio of infrared detectors.

    A measuring instrument that can determine sound scientific data must be calibrated beforehand. Only then can it output reliable information that is deemed comparable and repeatable. As leading bodies, institutions such as the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) or the National Institute of Standards (NIST) constitute the basis worldwide for the correct calibration of measuring instruments. InfraTec supports the work of PTB and NIST and provide them with detectors such as the LIE-651.
